Before writing this, I looked up at the Merriam-Webster Dictionary for the definition of dysmenorrhea, and the text simply said "painful menstruation".
If I were to define dysmenorrhea, it would be "painful, piercing, sharp, shooting, stabbing, stinging, agonizing, excruciating, and torturous menstruation." And that's just scratching the surface!
So ladies, what do you suggest we do about the condition that comes upon us every month? Here are some effective tips on how to reduce if not totally eliminate the painful, piercing, sharp, shooting, stabbing, stinging, agonizing, excruciating, and torturous feeling of menstruation:
1. Hot Compress - if you wanna go for natural and quick relief, then this one is a classic. Just heat up water (heat, not boil...) and soak a towel in it and put it on where it hurts. Its as easy as soak and resoak. You may also us hot bags if it suits you better. This may be a quick relief but it does not last. When you take the hot compress off then the pain may come back.
2. Pain Medication - ask your doctor about it. There are pain relievers which you can take every time your having dysmenorrhea. Just try not to be dependent on them and take only prescribed dosages.
3. Exercise regularly - this is one simple way to prevent painful menstruation. What's difficult is making the habit. But trust me, exercise does help lessen the pain.
4. Others - try Google search and type dysmenorrhea remedy and there you'll find other ways to cope up with the pain. But make sure to evaluate the options presented before you decide on which action to take.
